Sussex Family Volunteer Day: Meghan and Harry Give Back in LA

The Archewell Foundation closed out the season with a welcome reminder of what this time of year is truly about: community, compassion, and simply showing up for one another. In November, Prince Harry and Meghan, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, joined volunteers at Our Big Kitchen Los Angeles to prepare and deliver meals for individuals and families experiencing food insecurity.

In a touching detail that resonated widely, the couple’s children Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet also took part in the day’s service in small but meaningful ways. Their involvement underscored the Sussexes’ commitment to raising their children with an awareness of kindness, empathy, and social responsibility.

A Family Day of Giving Back

Meghan and Harry, alongside the Archewell team spent the day preparing and packaging fresh meals destined for community centers, shelters, schools, and senior programs across Los Angeles. Meghan and Harry were seen working alongside volunteers; laughing, chatting, and lending a hand where needed.

While the focus remained firmly on community impact rather than the family itself, Meghan shared on Instagram that Archie and Lilibet participated behind the scenes. Their involvement; age-appropriate, simple, and centered on learning; reflects the couple’s belief in teaching compassion through everyday experiences.

Meghan and Harry’s Signature Approach to Service

Since stepping back from formal royal duties, the Sussexes have shaped a service model rooted in presence and proximity rather than ceremony. Their public appearances often feel less like official engagements and more like genuine partnerships with the communities they support.

Final Thoughts

“Show Up, Do Good”, the Archewell Foundation’s motto, felt especially true on this day. With their children nearby, Meghan and Harry demonstrated what giving back looks like in real time — and how small, consistent acts of generosity can create a ripple effect far beyond the moment itself.
